Prerequisite: Pass Spanish 2 with C or better, or by instructor consent
Course Description:
Spanish III is a course conducted mostly in Spanish with a limited use of English for clarification of concepts. It continues the development of students’ listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, Students will be able to speak and write about numerous topics, express opinions, narrate past events and request information using increasingly advanced vocabulary and grammar. Students will be expected to communicate in Spanish in class every day.
Grading:
Grades will be based on the following:
Class Participation 15% 90-100 = A
Exams and Quizzes 45% 80- 89 = B
Homework, Class work, Projects 30% 70- 79 = C
Semester Exam 10% 60- 69 = D
Class Participation (15%): Speaking Spanish in class as much as possible is vital. Being prepared for and participating in activities is one of the most important means of attaining goals in the course. Class Participation takes into account but not limited to: your willingness to participate in class activities, volunteering answers in class and your use of Spanish in class.
Exams and Quizzes (45%): There will be a number of exams and quizzes during the year. Students are allowed a maximum of 2 weeks to take makeup tests and quizzes. No make-ups for unexcused absences. No test retakes.
Homework/Class work/Projects (30%): Homework will include written assignments and oral presentations. All homework must be completed by the beginning of the period on the due date. No late work is accepted. Make-up assignments must be turned in within 2 weeks of the original due date. Whenever the class is missed, it is the student’s responsibility to find out about makeup assignments, tests, or quizzes.
Semester Exam (10%): The semester exam will cover material studied during the entire semester.

- Maintain a positive attitude toward your work and classmates
- Be on time to class, in seat when class begins, ready to work and follow instructions
- Cell phones and other electronic devices must be turned off and put away during class
- No gum, food or beverages other than water in class
- Take responsibility for your own learning
- Respect the rights, feelings, and belongings of others
- Because this class is a dual credit class (possibility of earning both high school and college credit), you are held to student conduct policies for the high school and Clackamas Community College
